Presented in conjunction with Vessels, Anna Plesset’s sculptural installation inaugurated The Horticultural Society of New York's Project Space program for emerging New York artists. For this work, Plesset set a goal to collect a twig every day for six months. When she could not find a twig or forgot to collect one, she created her own trompe l’oeil facsimiles from clay and gouache. Plesset’s sculpted twigs are impossible to distinguish from their real life counterparts. Collectively, they form a calendar of perceived, experienced, and constructed reality, with each twig marking a passed day.
